"Nyeri"

Nyeri, situated on the slopes of Mount Kenya, is renowned as one of Kenya's premier coffee-producing regions. Blessed with favorable geography, the volcanic ash soil from Mount Kenya is rich in organic matter, offering excellent drainage and optimal air retention—a perfect environment. (Volcanic ash soil often comes up in coffee discussions. It's somewhat acidic, composed of volcanic ash and organic matter, with a light density and a sponge-like three-dimensional structure. This results in excellent permeability and aeration, with a notable characteristic of absorbing organic matter and phosphorus, providing essential nutrients.) Being relatively cool, especially with significant day-to-night temperature variations, allows cherries to ripen slowly, yielding cherries rich in sweetness. Among Kenya's coffee varieties, you can savor a juicy, fruity flavor profile to the fullest.

"Tegu"

"Tegu" in Kikuyu means "low place" and is also the name of a river nearby. The Tegu Washing Station in the Nyeri region is part of the Tekangu Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). It utilizes the clean water supplied from the Tegu River to produce high-quality coffee every year. Despite the abundance of water resources in the area near the river, they strive to minimize wastewater during processing by recycling water. This approach reflects their commitment to environmental sustainability. For this particular batch of coffee, after removing the pulp, they ferment it dry without soaking it in water, then thoroughly wash it and ferment it again for 72 hours (also dry fermented). The lactic sensation resembling yogurt when consumed is likely influenced by this process.

Characteristic of Nyeri, it boasts a juicy, fruit-forward profile reminiscent of blueberries or oranges. There's a subtle lactic impression, reminiscent of yogurt, adding richness upon consumption. The finish lingers with a fruity, sweet aftertaste akin to orange candy. Even after drinking, the aroma persists in the mouth... It's truly surprising how long it lasts.

Among all the Kenyan coffees I've tasted so far, this is the first time I've experienced such a prolonged and pleasant sweetness in the aftertaste. It's highly recommended.
