"Musenga"

Musenga CWS was established by Mr. Augustin Manirakiza. He has been involved in the coffee industry in Burundi for 17 years, including 6 years as a manager of a dry mill, 7 years as a specialist in international promotion and marketing of Burundian coffee, and 4 years as the representative of Burundi Greenland Coffee Export Company, a procurement company based in Kampala, Uganda. Additionally, he served as the National Coordinator for the Cup of Excellence (COE) in Burundi for 4 years and as a board member of the Alliance for Coffee Excellence, based in Portland, USA, for 2 years.

Cherries brought in from surrounding farmers are selected, and only the highest quality cherries are gathered. These cherries are further immersed in water for density sorting to ensure even higher quality coffee. After the pulp is removed, the cherries undergo a 12-hour fermentation in fermentation tanks, followed by washing with clean water and soaking in immersion tanks for 4 to 6 hours. They are then transported to African beds, where the coffee is slowly dried over 20 to 30 days, depending on weather conditions.

This time, we have opted for a medium-light roast, allowing you to enjoy both the refreshing citrusy sweetness and caramel-like sweetness. The roasting process was carried out carefully, ensuring not to lose heat after the first crack, resulting in a thorough roast. The slightly floral and herbal aroma during the roasting is simply delightful.

You will experience a crisp citrus flavor reminiscent of hassaku oranges and grapefruits, along with the caramel-like sweetness derived from the roast. The herbal aftertaste, characteristic of Burundian coffee, complements the sweetness and provides a pleasant sensation. This refreshing sweetness makes Burundian iced coffee a perfect drink to quench your thirst on a hot day.
